Forest Green Properties Woodland retreats seeking loving owners

Recreation

We look for properties located in premier recreational areas. Three states we currently feature are Kentucky, New York and Maine, and within these states our properties are located near a wide variety of recreational opportunities.

Kentucky

Kentucky is home to a wide variety of recreational opportunities. In particular, we focus on the eastern half of the state, which boasts a lush, green landscape. Starting from the bluegrass region around Lexington - home to the world's premier horse farms - one can trace many scenic routes into the Daniel Boone National Forest, which covers over 707,000 acres and surrounds the rock-climbing mecca of Red River Gorge. The 269-mile Sheltowee Trace National Recreational Trail runs the length of the forest, and a stretch of the trail forms the boundary between the National Forest and our property in Lewis County.

New York

New York is home to Adirondack Park, the largest park in the lower 48 U.S. states, over 6 million acres. Adirondack Park is in the northeastern part of the state, near both of our New York properties. Our property in Chesterfield is actually inside the park itself, and our property in Whitehall is close by. Activities inside the park include skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing in winter, and hiking, fishing, and camping in the summer. Both of our properties also have a view of Lake Champlain, the long lake which forms much of the border between New York and the neighboring state of Vermont.

Maine

Maine, whose state license plates proclaim the nickname Vacationland, is a four-season paradise packed with attractions and activities. The western part of the state is home to two premier ski resorts, Sugarloaf USA and Sunday River, the latter being less than an hour from our property in Dixfield. The northern part of the state is home to Mount Katahdin, in Baxter State Park, the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. It's also home to the remote 92-mile Allagash Wilderness Waterway, which inspired Henry David Thoreau and others. Our property in Lincoln is in one of the last built-up areas at the gateway to the vast northern areas of Maine. Finally, the long eastern coastline of Maine is a spectacularly scenic area, home to numerous small lobster and fishing villages, as well as Acadia National Park. Our property in Columbia Falls is just minutes from the coast.
